Man Killed Was Intoxicated
Keith Anders, 45, who was struck and killed by a minivan on Liberty Avenue on January 24 in front of German's Villa, had alcohol and prescription medications in his system, according to police.
A toxicology test showed Anders' blood alcohol content was .089 and he had two different prescription drugs in his system.
Elden Paden III, 40, of Vermilion, was driving a minivan on Liberty and didn't see Anders walking west with his back to traffic. Paden was not cited as he was not speeding and was not intoxicated.
Anders was wearing dark clothing and the section of Liberty Avenue has no street lights.
