High Winds Reek Havoc
Thousands of area homes and businesses are still without power following wind damage that was severe and widespread. Crews are working to restore power but it's not known how long that will take.
The National Weather Service said gusts of more than 50 mph were recorded across northern Ohio overnight.
Outages also affected many schools. Many districts closed Wednesday as a result of the high wind damage.
High winds knocked down many trees and tree limbs and caused damage to homes and buildings throughout the area. No injuries have been reported.
HIGH WIND WARNING
A WINTER STORM WILL MOVE UP THE OHIO VALLEY THURSDAY NIGHT AND BRING A MIX OF SNOW...SLEET...FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN TO THE ENTIRE LOWER GREAT LAKES REGION. WHILE THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY IN THE EXACT TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM...THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR MODERATE SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS BY THE TIME THE STORM DEPARTS THE REGION FRIDAY EVENING.
ANOTHER STORM WILL APPROACH THE REGION SUNDAY NIGHT AND BRING A CHANCE OF FREEZING RAIN TO THE ENTIRE AREA.
