United Way To Participate In National Day Of Action

United Way of Greater Lorain County will be participating in a National Day of Action. On Saturday, June 21, 2008, United Ways across the country will employ a variety of engagement mechanisms around – giving, advocating & volunteering – to launch, create or continue real, lasting change in our communities. Locally, United Way of Greater Lorain County will put their efforts towards the community impact area of Basic Needs by providing women in need with their own box of personal care items.

“This is the first time we’ve tried a project such as this and we’re having a positive response of support so far,” said Robbi Hunt, Project Coordinator. “Our goal is to fill 200+ boxes with personal care items for women,” she added.

The boxes will be distributed on Saturday, June 21st to local organizations including: FAITH House, The Key, Genesis House, YWCA Women’s Campus, Elyria Health Department, Lorain Health Department, and Lorain County Health Department.

They will then distribute them to their clients in need.

Help is still very much needed by the community and local businesses to make this Day of Action project a success. Between now & Friday, June 13th, United Way is asking for donations of personal care items or gift cards to purchase these items for the project. Items needed may include soap, shampoo, toothpaste, tooth brush, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, combs/brushes, lotions, make-up, and body sprays. Please feel free to drop items or mail gift cards to:
