Vermilion Celebrates
Earth Day

Vermilion residents celebrated Earth day with a variety of activities on Saturday.  Mill Hollow offered a local steel drum band,  kids crafts, information booths, demonstrations, hikes, and even circus performers.

The Friends of the Vermilion River Watershed held an open house at the Vermilion-on-the-Lake Historic Community Center. Environmental organizations provided exhibits and presentations on nature and environmental issues.  Rehabilitated wildlife, including raptors, were also featured.

The 4th Annual Vermilion in Bloom Gardeners Fair also took place on Saturday at Sailorway Middle School offering gardening tips from the pros. Indoor and outdoor flowers, plants, planters, original art, one-of-a-kind gift items and more were available for purchase.

Earth Day activities continue on Tuesday, April 29 at 7 pm at the Ritter annex.  Find out how you can be more earth friendly at a special program presented by Main Street Vermilion Inc. and Ritter Public Library. The Cleveland Restoration Society will talk about rehabilitating existing homes while Lorain County Solid Waste Management and Vermilion’s Lions Club will present useful tips for ecological living.
