Brummer's Homemade Chocolates and Candies - Candy Makers Since 1904.  A third generation company, Brummer's Chocolates was established in 1904 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Moving to Vermilion, Ohio in 1990, Bob Brummer extended their business to the mid-west. Keeping the same family recipes, Bob & his brother George (with his business located in Westfield, NJ) use the finest quality ingredients in all their chocolates & candies.

Brummer's Chocolate's History

In the early 1900's Fredrick Brummer came to the United States from the Saxton region of Germany. In 1904 he, along with his wife Catherine, established Brummer's Confectionery in Jersey City, New Jersey. Making ice cream & candy in this location was a booming business because of all the trolleys & carriages heading into Manhattan. They all passed by the store. Later a luncheonette was added to service all the traffic. Fredrick & his wife had two children who continued the business in the 1940's and 1950's. Bob & George now continue the tradition. No longer having a luncheonette or ice cream parlor allow the two to concentrate solely on their chocolates & candies.

A Good Time On Main Cruise-In

This annual event is sponsered by Brummer's Homemade Chocolates and Admiral Debbie's Ice Cream and Desserts. Mr. Brummer and Mr. Dickerhoff decided to put together this event in an effort to promote the downtown to the people of Vermilion.

Celebrate the summer season each July with Vermilion's "A Good Time On Main"

Enjoy the Cruise-In on Main Street Saturday featuring vintage cars, a Taste of Vermilion, an Ice Cream Social and Street Dancing. 2 pm to dark. Free registration, free dash plaques for the first 125 cars.  Door prizes and grand prize, music, entertainment and food.
