Winter Days Festival
_____________________________________________________

A family fun event at Vermilion River Reservation in Vermilion, Ohio.  Celebrate the snow each January. Shake the winter blues by spending a fun-filled day in the park!

Saturday includes an annual Ice Carving Competition and Ice Harvesting Demonstration on the River.  If there is snow – there's a Snow Sculpture Contest. We encourage all families to come and participate – everybody is a winner.

Come bundled up for a day of winter outdoor fun and then warm up in the Carriage Barn by the toasty fire. On Saturday, culinary students from local vocational schools will compete in teams to create unique sculptures from gigantic blocks of ice. The competition begins at 10 am with judging starting at 1 pm. The students’ ice sculptures will remain on display at the Vermilion River Reservation through Monday and then be displayed throughout the park district as long as the cold weather lasts.

Come and spend a fun-filled weekend sledding, making snow creations, and taking a horse-drawn carriage ride. Walk along the riverbank and see the huge icicles that hang from the shale cliffs. Hot cocoa, a toasty fire, historical ice harvesting artifacts, and an educational video on the history of ice harvesting await you in the Carriage Barn!

Vermilion River Reservation’s Winter Days Festival takes place on both sides of the park. Sledding and hiking trails can be explored in the Bacon Woods park area, while the ice carving competition and ice harvesting activities are on the Mill Hollow side of the park.  Ice sculptures are exhibited near the Carriage Barn.

Vermilion River Reservation is located at 51211 North Ridge Rd.,  just 4 miles south of downtown Vermilion, by the intersection of North Ridge and Vermilion Roads.
